What is ACBC?

We are a BC-based, non-profit society created for adaptive climbers, by adaptive climbers. Our mission is to foster a diverse community of adaptive climbers in British Columbia by making climbing accessible to people of all abilities. We work directly with climbing gyms to offer accessible route-setting and monthly adaptive climbing events and meetups. Learn about our events here.

What is Adaptive Climbing?

Adaptive climbing involves systems and techniques that aim to remove barriers and make climbing safe and accessible to people of all abilities. This means using specialized rope systems, harnesses, ascenders, and other equipment/technology to remove focus from a person’s disability and allow them to start climbing at their current ability level. The adaptive climbing experience can be specially tailored to an individual’s unique goals and abilities so everyone can climb at any level and see progression over time.
